The bentonite has the property of increasing its volume by swelling upon contact with water, thereby sealing the joint.<\/p>\n<p>It is used for sealing construction cold joints, both horizontal and vertical; it is suitable for tunnels, parking structures, wastewater treatment plants, tanks, channels, sewer collectors, and in general for underground structures subject to occasional or permanent contact with water. They are used, depending on their cross-section and shape, in expansion joints, in construction joints and in any type of structure (civil, industrial, etc.), in order to give the latter a perfect hydraulic seal.<br \/>Any building work requires appropriate structural breaks to allow free movement caused by settling, thermal expansion of materials, deformation under load. A structural joint has the twofold task of absorbing such movements at predetermined points of the structure, without causing cracks and fissures in adjacent areas, and of waterproofing the interstice from the ingress of water, air and foreign bodies.
